ICS-on-galaxy-s

Today I ‘ll share with you the procedure to install Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy S. The official release of ICS is still much awaited. But meanwhile team Hacksung has already designed ICS build 14 so that you can easily get a sneakpeak into the ICS. Follow the step by step guide to install ICS build 14 on your Galaxy S GT I9000.

Things Required at first :

  • First of all, you need a rooted Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 running Android 2.3.6 firmware version XXJVU. Otherwise this would not work !
  • Then, you have to enable USB Debugging on your device. The path is –> “Settings –> Applications –> Development –> USB Debugging”.
  • Your mobile should have at-least 60 % of juice (Battery Power !!!) to ensure it does not run out of battery during the process.
  • You should turn off any antivirus or similar app running on your phone.
  • Download the following packages :

  1. Team Hacksung’s ICS Build 14 package (Download)
  2. Google Apps 7.1 package (Download)
  3. Face Unlock package (Download)
  4. Google Apps Fixer package (Download)

Step by step Guide :

  1. Connect your phone to PC vi USB , transfer the downloaded packages to the SD card of the phone.
  2. Disconnect the phone  from PC &  turn it off.
  3. Reboot your phone  into recovery mode. To do this, you need to  press down the Volume Up and Menu keys, then press  Power button on the device.
  4. Once inside recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory rest” and then “Wipe cache partition”.
  5. Now select “Install zip from sd card” then select “Choose zip from sd card.”  Browse to the ICS Build 14 package to start flashing the update to your phone.
  6. Then repeat the above step and flash the Google Apps package, Face Unlock package, and Google Apps Fixer package in turn.
  7. After flashing all the update files, select  “++++ Go Back ++++” and select “Reboot system now”.
Voila! You have now successfully installed Ice Cream Sandwich on your Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000. Enjoy !
Good-luck !
