Samsung’s Music Hub will be offered for free, but also in a Premium version, with the subscription going for €/£9.99 per month. The Premium users will be able to upload and access their music library from anywhere around the globe. Also there is unlimited streaming and radio-stations that can be customized. There’s 100 GB of cloud storage offered with the Premium Music Hub and access to a library containing 19 million tracks, comparable with Apple’s iTunes.

The Music Hub service will be exclusively for the Samsung Galaxy S3 owners. But soon Samsung is going to extend this feature to Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note.

Samsung has been the Champion of Android Smartphone Market lately and with addition of cool services like Music Hub of their own, its not difficult to understand why the company's sales and profits are reaching record heights in recent days.

Prieto’s 3D Li-ion high-energy Battery - takes minutes to charge

Over the last decade Battery Technology has hardly produced any significant revolution. Life and technology move so quickly these days that current battery technology can hardly keep up. While the electronic devices that power our lives get exponentially smarter, the batteries that power them has improved only marginally. Many companies has worked on certain parts of the Lithium-ion battery technology but now we have a entire new architecture that is about to revolutionize human lives.

Dr. Amy Prieto, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at Colorado State University since 2005, has invented a new technology that will deliver unparalleled performance in power density, improve energy density, last longer and will be made using highly recyclable materials that don’t require toxic acid to produce energy.

This new technology is being patented in partnership with Colorado State University and the products will soon be commercialized. Around $5.45 million has already been invested in this project.

This new battery termed as "Prieto's Battery" has lots of advantages over the earlier technology.
  • Very High Power-Density
  • Long Cycle Life
  • Safe
  • Greater Energy Density
Earlier Li-ion technology was two-dimensional which limits the direction and speed at which energy can flow. Eventually the battery takes a long time to charge, loses energy quickly, and needs to be replaced often.

Prieto's Battery Diagram
Prieto's Battery Diagram

Prieto's proprietary 3D Battery Technology has a 3D architecture that integrates nanowire or copper foam substrate, which has higher power and energy densities than any traditional lithium-ion battery. This architecture directly equates to faster lithium-ion transfer that is thermally stable, and is made completely from water-based process.

In near future we will see various applications of this technology. In its prototype version we have already a three-dimensional interior architecture that could be perfect for the electric cars.  We are about to experience this technology in smartphones, Tablets, E-bikes, Electric Vehicles, Robots, Grid Storage - everywhere. It's just a matter of time.

Here is a video that illustrates how Prieto's Battery works -

facebook about to build their own smartphone - Rumor or Reality ?

Facebook is on the verge of releasing a new smartphone of their own , says New York Times. According to some of their unnamed sources this new brain-child of Zuckerberg may hit the market next year.

The news also confirms that Facebook has already hired six former Apple software and hardware engineers who worked on the iPhone, and one who worked on the iPad.

Earlier in November Facebook had tapped HTC to build a smartphone that integrates the social network at its core in an effort code-named "Buffy". Definitely Zuckerberg is thinking to take this social networking based company to a next level. It should be noted as well that in February 2011 at Mobile World Congress, HTC unveiled two new smartphones that feature dedicated Facebook buttons: the HTC ChaCha, which eventually became the HTC Status and the HTC Salsa.

facebook smartphone
Recently the company has lost more than $17 billion (initial valuation $104 billion) with stocks falling and their Initial Public Offering (IPO) also being marked a failure by financial experts, the company is trying its best to expand their way into the smartphone manufacturing.

Well now Facebook is busy planning to build a smartphone that is heavily integrated with their social network. May be this explains the $1 billion Instagram deal and the company's keenness to enter the app-race with a separate Facebook App-Store of their own; also not to mention Facebook's interest in buying the 'Opera'. It seems Zuckerberg is onto something which is more than a rumor. But if Facebook will choose to design a smartphone from the ground up and handle all the hardware and software themselves, it will be very difficult to come up with a truly competitive product.

It's still messy to guess about FB’s plans. A lot of questions are yet to be answered, like What about the OS of the smartphone ? Is it going to be a Android ? or rather a modified forked Android ? or whether a new OS is on the way ? May be we should wait and watch. It would be great if Facebook launches some cheap price tagged smartphones. Then this could be a tough competition between Faceebook and Android maker Google.

Google alert DNS malware - victim's Internet may shutdown July 9

The number of DNSChanger-infected systems was at around 450,000 worldwide at the end of January, but remains at around 330,000 today. (Credit: DCWG)

Recently there is a annoying malware crawling the web that threatens the DNS server settings, preventing the victims from getting access to the Internet; no, this is not a drama. Even Google itself is warning people around the globe about this malware known as "DNS Changer".

Recently Google is monitoring its users whether the user have this malware in their system or not. Those who are affected can see a warning in their Google search Result page along wih a description about systems not being able to connect to the Internet in future; it says - " Your computer appears to be infected ".

The DNSChanger malware is a Trojan horse infection that at its peak affected approximately 4 million PC systems worldwide, with about 500,000 of those being in the United States. When installed, the malware changes the system's DNS server settings to point to a rogue DNS network set up by the malware developers.

The DNS network is essentially the phone book for the Internet, and allows the system to convert URL names such as "www.cnet.com" to the IP address for the Web site (a number that the computer and network devices can use). The effort behind the DNSChanger malware was to interfere with this IP address lookup routine and provide a false IP number to the computer. As a result, if you typed in the URL of a legitimate Web site, then the malware developers could redirect you to a fake Web site that tries to phish information from you, have you click on ads for revenue, or otherwise perform unwanted behavior.

In November 2011, the FBI and authorities from other countries arrested the crime ring behind the malware; however, they were faced with a problem about how to fix the millions of PCs that have been infected with the malware. For these systems, their DNS server settings will continually revert to point to the rogue DNS network, even if they are manually changed by the user. Therefore, in order to keep affected people online, the FBI kept the rogue DNS network active, and only converted it to be a legitimate DNS service.

This setup was intended to be a temporary fix while people removed the malware from their systems; however, the eradication of the malware has taken a lot longer than anticipated. The rogue servers were originally to be shut down on March 8, but by that time an estimated 450,000 systems were still infected so the shutdown date was pushed back to July 9.

Even with the criminal arrests and seizure of the DNS network over 6 months ago, an estimated 330,000 systems are still infected to this date, with about 77,000 of them being in the U.S.

This slow response for removing the malware is in part because users with the malware were not properly informed of the issue. Their Internet connections have continued to work just fine, so there has been no reason for them to suspect any problems.

As the July 9 shutdown deadline looms, these systems are in danger of losing their ability to resolve URLs to their respective IP addresses, and thereby lose their ability to connect to the Internet. Because this threatens the connectivity of thousands of PC systems, to help inform people of this malware threat, Google has implemented a service that determines if the rogue DNS network is being used by your computer, and then issues you the warning.

Well in case you see this warning, there are few things you can do on your own. They are -

So you better keep an eye on your system. Remember one thing, although Google is very neat about its service, the warnings may persist even after removal of the malware. All the best.

Nvidia Kai - 199 $ Quad-core Tablet project on market

Introducing a new Quad-Core Tablet worth $199 by Nvidia, Kai Tablet. Nvidia executives are preparing for a major push into the iPad-dominated tablet space with this Android-based platform called “Kai” and plans to leverage Microsoft’s Windows RT operating system when it’s rolled out later this year. This tablet concentrates on low-cost and lower power consumption of the display with Nvidia technology.

The Kai platform is designed to leverage the company’s Tegra 3 chip to offer quad-core tablets that Nvidia officials say will run Google’s Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich, mobile operating system and cost about $199, significantly less than the $499 starting price for an iPad.

It's still a question whether Kai is a final product or just a design of a branch of new Quad-core Tablets.

As Android users we would opt for $200 price tag rather than a $499 tag. Quite undoubtedly Kai has produced a hype in the market already. Price point always had been one of the key factors for android smart-phones. It would be nice to have a Quad-Core gadget in our hands in low budget.

$49 Android PC to replace your old computer - by VIA

Introducing a new ARM PC from VIA, based on a Neo-ITX motherboard, will serve as backup for your old-PCs. You just need to connect it to a monitor or TV. This is quite capable of running Android 2.3.

For 49 $ you will get 800 Mhz ARM11 CPU, 512 MB of DDR3 RAM, 2 GB of flash storage, and a GPU that will support 720p video playback. It can also support games like Angrybirds and similar graphics game. You’ll also have access to an Ethernet port, 4 USB ports, Audio-out/Mic-in, microSD slot, HDMI, and VGA display ports. You can house this board in a standard Mini-ITX or microATX chassis.

Sadly, this won't support ICS (Icecream Sandwich). It only supports Android 2.3. Although there are lots of handy features on ICS, still this 49 $ worth ARM chip is worth a try for the Companies who plan to work with these low end PCs. It goes without saying that you should expect significantly slower performance than from a $1000 PC. But as a way to use more “computers” around your house for different applications, like making a Smart TV or a low-end console, these barebones systems are ideal.

Download Samsung Galaxy S 3 ROM - Leaked !!!

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 is quite a matter of noise. May be its Touchwiz feature or S-Voice, this Android device is a cool product indeed. Smart Stay and Pop Up Play are other some of the pretty amazing features of the S3.

S-Voice is a virtual assistant on your Android phone. With your voice, you can control your device by saying commands like launching the camera, controlling songs, adjusting volumes and you can even command ‘snooze’ to your S 3’s alarm.

Pop Up play lets you enjoy HD videos while chatting or checking the mails. Cool features huh ?

So why don't you give this ROM of S3 's a try ? But this ROM will only work if you have Android 4.0 ICS.

The ROM can be downloaded HERE. This ROM is provided by the Samsung enthusiastic boys at SAMMOBILE.

It’s great to have the S3′s features leaked to other Android smartphone with this leaked ROM. Soon we'll have the S3 itself, but this ROM may be worth a satisfaction for now.

US bans Motorola Smart-phones' Import

According to a US trade panel, some Motorola smart-phones infringe on a Microsoft patent and they will be barred from importation to the US.
US International Trade Commission (ITC) has sent an order to President Barack Obama to consider whether to overrun it for policy reasons.
The legal fight at the ITC is one of dozens globally between various smartphone makers. Google's Android system has become the top-selling smartphone operating system, ahead of mobile systems by Apple, Microsoft, Research in Motion and others.

The ITC order did not say which models of Motorola Mobility smartphone were barred but Microsoft has asked for the following devices to be stopped at the US border: the Atrix, Backflip, Bravo, Charm, Cliq, Cliq 2, Cliq XT, Defy, Devour, Droid 2, Droid 2 Global, Droid Pro, Droid X, Droid X2, Flipout, Flipside, Spice and the Xoom tablet.
The ITC is a popular venue for patent litigation since it has the power to forbid the importation of products that infringe on patents.
The case at the ITC is No. 337-744.

Backup Data and Apps in micro SD card using Titanium Backup on your Android

In our earlier posts we did talk about custom ROM(s) and their installation. If you have installed any custom ROM ever, you would certainly know that after installation, all data as well as apps on your android is lost during the process. Its very frustrating to start from the scratch again. Wouldn’t it been cool if there were an app that could easily save all data and apps to the micro-sd card , so that after rooting , we can get back everything as we left it.
Well now, there is  a free app available in the Android Market for the users who have root access. The app, called Titanium Backup, allows users to back up their apps and data, and store these into the SD card. Also, the app has other features like, freezing apps so they don’t keep running in the background or even taking up space in the memory of the phone.
Isn’t it cool ? Titanium Backup also has a paid version which serves as a donation to its developers. This version runs batch processes to restore, back up, freeze, unfreeze at the push of a single button.
Now, users who love rooting their phone when there is a cool ROM available, may get saved of data loss and of-course the headache !

How to turn on your PC using your Android via WIFI (wow LAN)

PCAuto-Waker

Today I will share with you a trick on how to turn your computer on using your favorite Android mobile. It may sound funny for the first time. But it is really a cool tool for the tech geeks. 6. If your Android is already connected to the wifi network, then you can simple check Use current WiFi connection SSID and it will complete the fields automatically.
Its entirely upto you , whether you would use Automatic WOL or not. You can always change your settings, you know. Use manual mode and you have to click individual connections (If there are more than one computers are configured for WoW LAN). Upon clicking the connection its associated menu would come up.
So was that real fun or not ?  I know it was ! Let me tell you one thing, Android is extremely powerful platform. You just need to know things that might help you as you go with it. Good Luck !

Lots of articles are there over the net which might sound confusing to follow. Here I ‘ll discuss the flashing procedure step by step.

This will take you to your earlier OS installation. Please note that flashing into a new ROM would erase all of your current apps and settings. You can useTitanium Backup for this. Professional license for this tool is highly recommended. Dont forget to backup your all important data, files, apps somewhere else.
