Requirements
- Verizon Galaxy Nexus (CDMA) running Android 4.0.4 ICS.
- A working computer.
- You need to disable any Antivirus software running in your computer as well as your Gadget.
- ADB and Fastboot installed on your computer.
- At-least 70 % of juice (battery !) on your Gadget.
Step by Step Instructions
- Download & save the ZIP package (su.zip) from here.
- Download the ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery 5.5.0.4 image for the Galaxy Nexus CDMA from here.
- Copy CWM image file into the same folder where 'adb.exe' and 'fastboot.exe' are located on your computer.
- Enable your device’s USB debugging mode by -'Settings --> Applications --> Development'.
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
- Copy 'su.zip' to the root of your device’s SD card..
- Launch a command prompt (DOS prompt) on your computer and type the following commands:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-toro.img
- Now boot your device to ClockworkMod Recovery using your phone’s Volume keys, select the option “Recovery Mode” and press the Power button to confirm the selection.
- Once inside ClockworkMod Recovery, select 'install zip from sd card', then select 'choose zip from sd card and browse to the file named “su.zip” to manually flash your Galaxy Nexus.
- Wait for the installation process to finish.
- Now select '++++Go Back++++', then select 'reboot system now' to reboot the device.
Voila ! you have successfully rooted your Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
To verify if you have rooted it or not, you can download the Superuser app in the Android Market for free.
